Foot Locker and Nike transformed a New York Fashion Week evening into a private celebration of women who influence culture, business, and the arts. The gathering focused on a sneaker created exclusively for them.
The Muse in Residence takes over NYFW
The event, titled The Muse in Residence, highlighted the Air Max Muse, a women’s-only sneaker design. Fifteen women from New York and other cities participated in styling sessions, customization workshops, and discussions that recognized their impact.
Word Agency, a creative studio led by women, developed the concept. The evening combined fashion, food, and personal expression in a multi-sensory experience.
Styling sessions, customization, and a six-course dinner
Guests began with private styling by Mecca James-Williams, who selected outfits from Foot Locker’s brands COZI and LCKR. Her choices emphasized sharp, effortless style, aligning with the event’s focus on individuality.
Amanda Tate led a customization station where attendees personalized their sneakers or clothing. The setup reinforced the idea that creativity defines personal identity.
Chef Magdalena O’Neal prepared a six-course meal, complemented by cocktails from Amaro Montenegro and Select Aperitivo. During dinner, conversations shifted from craft to entrepreneurship as the women discussed how they established themselves in their fields.
The gathering extended beyond the sneaker. It became a space for forming connections through shared experiences. Those present weren’t just celebrated—they were the ones driving change.
A gathering of creators, not just inspirations
The guest list included influential figures from New York’s cultural and entrepreneurial scenes. Annya Santana, founder of Hood Health, joined April Walker, the pioneering creator of Walker Wear. D’ana Nuñez, an artist and founder of COVL, spoke with Karen Vidangos, a senior social media manager at The Met and founder of the Latinx Art Collective.
Other participants included Kayla Greaves, a beauty journalist; Rae Witte, a writer covering music and culture; and Soo-Young Kim Abrams, founder of SYK Skin. The diverse industries—media, fashion, art, and business—aligned with the event’s goal of showcasing women as leaders.
Zoila Darton and Darian Harvin hosted the evening, supported by Lindsay Eshelman and Thalia Perez. The atmosphere carried a mentorship tone, with attendees connecting, sharing stories, and reinforcing their roles as innovators.
The Air Max Muse sneaker served as more than footwear. For one night, it stood for the idea that women don’t just wear culture—they create it.
Event organizers designed the space to reflect this principle. A salon-like setting encouraged open dialogue, ensuring the evening felt intimate despite its high-profile guest list.
