He was defeated and brought prisoner after the conclusion of the Java War in 1830. His kris was long considered lost but was positioned after being identified by the Dutch National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden. The museum was formally opened in 1868 and is popularly known as Gedung Gajah generally called Gedung Arca . It was called Gedung Gajah on account of the bronze elephant statue within the front yard – a present to Batavia from King Chulalongkorn of Siam in 1871.
